"One Thing Needful"is a poem by Bram Stoker. It was first published in the US in the December 10, 1885 issue of The Youth's Companion, Perry Mason & Co., Publishers, Boston, MA.
After its appearance in the The Youth's Companion, "One Thing Needful" was reprinted in at least five newspapers across the US. It appeared as follows: Book publication
"One Thing Needful" first appeared in book form in the UK in November 1902 in A Volunteer Haversack: Containing Contributions of Certain Writers to the Queen's Rifle Volunteer Brigade: The Royal Scots. Although the publisher is not listed, the publication page of this book states that it was Printed for the Brigade, Edinburgh. In 1905 it appeared in The Queen's Christmas Carol, Daily Mail, London, under the title "The One Thing Needful."
