"A Star Trap"is a short story by Bram Stoker. It was first published in 1908 in Stoker's second collection of short stories Snowbound: The Record of a Theatrical Touring Party, Collier & Co., London. In 1973 it appeared in The Bram Stoker Bedside Companion, Victor Gollancz Ltd, London, in 1990 it appeared in Midnight Tales, Peter Owen Publishers, London, and in 1997 it appeared in Best Ghost and Horror Stories, Dover Publications, Inc., New York.
When "A Star Trap" was republished in Midnight Tales the title was changed to "Death in the Wings" by the editor.
In his book Midnight Tales Peter Haining claimed that this story appeared in November 1888 in Collier's Magazine, New York, under the title "Death in the Wings." However, a careful search has shown that "A Criminal Star" was not published in that magazine under any title.
