The World

was an American daily newspaper founded in 1860. From 1883 to 1911 Joseph Pulitzer was the publisher of this paper. During this time the The World was a pioneer of yellow journalism. The first issue appeared on August 21, 1860. This newspaper ceased publication on February 27, 1931.
